Vietnamese Noodle Bowl (Bún Thịt Nướng)

Instructions:

  • first you’ll need to marinade your shrimp (or other meats, great with beef or pork)

    • 1 1/2 lbs meat of choice

    • 2 tbsp soy sauce or seasoning sauce

    • 2 tbsp fish sauce 

    • 2 1/2 tbsp sugar

    • 2 tbsp minced garlic

    • 2 tbsp minced shallot

    • 1/2 tbsp pepper

    Grill or sear on stovetop

     To assemble the bowl, you’ll need:

    • Vermicelli Rice Noodles

    • Lettuce

    • Herbs, like Thai basil, cilantro, culantro, and mint.

    • Sliced cucumbers

    • crushed peanuts

    For the Nuoc Cham sauce: 

    • 2 tbsp fish sauce

    • 2 tbsp white sugar

    • 6 tbsp water

    • half a lime - more if you like it sour.

      bring to a soft boil on the stove, enough to melt the sugar, taste, and adjust to your liking then add:

    • 2 Thai chilis chop

    • 2 cloves minced garlic

    If you want a hoisin-type sauce as well:

    1/2 cup hoisin sauce

    2 tbsp siracha

    2 tbsp coconut milk

    bring to a soft boil and stove and you are set.
