Vietnamese Noodle Bowl (Bún Thịt Nướng)
Instructions:
first you’ll need to marinade your shrimp (or other meats, great with beef or pork)
1 1/2 lbs meat of choice
2 tbsp soy sauce or seasoning sauce
2 tbsp fish sauce
2 1/2 tbsp sugar
2 tbsp minced garlic
2 tbsp minced shallot
1/2 tbsp pepper
Grill or sear on stovetop
To assemble the bowl, you’ll need:
Vermicelli Rice Noodles
Lettuce
Herbs, like Thai basil, cilantro, culantro, and mint.
Sliced cucumbers
crushed peanuts
For the Nuoc Cham sauce:
2 tbsp fish sauce
2 tbsp white sugar
6 tbsp water
half a lime - more if you like it sour.
bring to a soft boil on the stove, enough to melt the sugar, taste, and adjust to your liking then add:2 Thai chilis chop
2 cloves minced garlic
If you want a hoisin-type sauce as well:
1/2 cup hoisin sauce
2 tbsp siracha
2 tbsp coconut milk
bring to a soft boil and stove and you are set.
